Advice and answers from the LangShop help center

LangShop allows exporting translations of all types of content (products, collections, pages, blog posts, etc.). The app exports original content and its translated version to a CSV or PO files. In the exported file, you will see two columns: Source and Target. The Source column contains the original content and the Target contains the translated content.

You can export your localized content for these reasons:

  • Сonvenience in manual editing. You export translated files and edit the translation yourself or with the help of the translation agency. You can edit CSV files with the help of Excel, Mac OS Numbers, and Microsoft Office Excel. Po files can be edited with the help of Poedit
  • Сonvenience in manual translation. LangShop exports original and translated content. If you don't have a translation of some content, the field of the translated content will be empty. You can give the exported file to the translation agency and import the translated content to the store.
  • Creating a backup of your localized content. Exporting the localized content you can import it anytime and restore the content of your store.

The export process is the same for all types of localized content, so in this guide, we will consider the most popular request 'How to export products?'.

  1. From your LangShop admin go to the Products => All products.
  2. Click Export.
  3. From the dialog box, choose the languages that you want to export, file format, and objects that you want to export.
  4. Click Export products.

In this case, translations into all target languages will be exported. If you want to export a few translated products, follow this guide:

  1. Select products that you want to export (for example, 10 products) and click Export.

  2. Select languages which translations you want to export (we will choose 2 languages - French and Arabic). Choose the file format and choose Selected 10 products.
  3. Click Export products.

The task will be created. When it finishes, you will get an email with a link to download the file or you can download it from the Alerts.

So, Download the file and save it in the appropriate folder. Extract files and you will see two files - into Arabic and French. Open them, edit translations, and save changes.

Let us remind you that these steps will be the same for all types of translated content.
